Felony Records - When Celebrities and Crime Collide

Felony records often make for tantalizing stories. Perhaps the most intriguing of these are the ones involving celebrities. The rich and famous are always objects of media-attention and adoration (or hate) from the general public. The mania becomes all the more intense when celebrities rack up felony records, exposing them to the world as glitz with a dark side.

History and arrest records will show that many celebrities have been caught up in misdemeanor charges. Mel Gibson and his drunken anti-semitic rant; Axl Rose and his biting a security guard; Russel Crowe and his temper tantrums - they all serve to show us that even stars have their off days and can do things that lead to felony records and a bad rap.

And how about the stars that get involved with truly serious crimes like murder? Whether they are perpetrators or victims, their stories loom larger than life; their felony records are imbued with dazzle. Consider the following:

Felony Records: Fatty Arbuckle

This adored comedian's felony records were rape and murder. The victim? Actress Virginia Rappe, a stunning lady as known for her promiscuity as for her looks. The murder took place during a party at the St. Francis Hotel in San Fransisco. The mess got messier with three ensuing trials to find out what happened that fateful night.

Felony Records: Spade Cooley

Don't recognize the name? That's okay, not a lot of people do. But make no mistake, this man was a very successful country music band leader who made a fortune in the music, TV, and film industries. He eventually lost all prestige and gained a notorious felony record when, in a jealous rage, he murdered his wife, sending Hollywood into a frenzied shock and spin.

Felony Records: Marvin Gaye

Soul singer extraordinaire, you'd think this guy would be better off developing music instead of felony records. But Gaye eventually succumbed to paranoia and drugs, beating his wives along the way and subjecting them to forced sex. He was ultimately killed by his father after he attacked him.

These are just some of the names of high profile celebrities who, throughout the years, have shocked the world by being involved in some form of crime. Their celebrity status makes the felonies all the more bizarre. But, at the end of the day, a crime is a crime and should be treated as such.

To this end law enforcement has done a heroic job of upholding justice. Although the system is questioned at times (remember a guy named OJ?) by and large the policed and criminal justice system have worked together to make the world a better place. Forensic teams, criminal profilers, investigators, and a vast nationwide team of law enforcement officers work tirelessly to make sure that arrest records are made and criminals are brought to justice. Even celebrities are given few favors. You may be famous and you may have more money than most, but if you have a felony record, your days are numbered.
